                                         INCANTATIONS

"The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit " ~  Proverbs 18:21

                                                                                     Prologue

When you hear the word incantation, your mind may instantly be drawn to fantasy like worlds where the characters use wield magic to manipulate one another and the matter around them; Harry Potter, The Sorcerer’s Apprentice, and The Spiderwick Chronicles are just a few we may think of. These stories seem fantastical and other worldly, but what would you say if you were told that the cryptic spells and incantations which lie at the very core of these stories, make up a large portion of our world as we know it today? Yes friends, we have been spelled and we cast spells many times a day without even realizing it. Some are good and others are not so hot. Now, before you write this off as the writings of some hair brained lunatics, take a moment, if you will, to allow your mind to carefully consider what you are about to read in the following paragraphs.  Also, please be advised that the scenarios used in this document are fictional, and their intent is solely to assist in making the point of this document clear.

Still with us?

Good!

Here we go.

First, let’s look at the meaning of the word incantation. An incantation is a word or a series of words that are used as a magic spell or charm. They are used to bring a set of circumstances into being. If Harry wants to unlock a barred door, all he has to do is say “Aloha Mora,” swish and flick the wand in his hand, and voila, he has gained entrance. The incantation, or phrase used was “Aloha Mora.” The set of circumstances manifested was the act of the door opening and allowing the young wizard to walk through. Now, to see the results of an incantation used in this world, one does not need to wield a wand. Although that would be cool for some. All one has to do is simply use the gift of utterance. Utterance, coupled with whatever preconceived notions already linger in, and occupy the mental space of the hearer, will help to create the outcome. This is what one believes in. Whether the outcome manifests itself through an action, a set of feelings, or simply thoughts, something has been created on some level.

As stated previously, those who are in control of this realm, at this time, use incantations to beguile the populations of this world. They wield their magic mainly by influencing us to: watch certain programs on television, to read certain books, and, undoubtedly, the music that we plug into our ears, is influenced by their unsavory spells as well. When we give our attention to these devices, suggestions are fed to us, through the repetitive use of key words. These key words conjure up strong feelings within our emotional bodies.  Those feelings and emotions take root, and under certain conditions actually grow as subconscious memories (that more often than not) lead to one’s acting upon what is felt at a given time. This stands to reason that words can and have been used indirectly, or directly to bring a set of circumstances and situations into being. An incantation has been released and sent forth to do its bidding. A subtle spell has been cast!

Take a moment and picture the following in your mind’s eye. You come home after a long grueling day at work, grab a cold drink from the refrigerator, and proceed to get comfortable on the sofa. Grabbing the remote from in between the seat cushions, or maybe you’re neat, and you have it set neatly in the drawer with the other household gadgets. In any event, you turn on the television to see what’s playing. As you flip through the channels, you come upon a news segment. On the screen you see a picture of a woman whose face is contorted with indescribable grief. You become interested and turn up the volume. This is the moment you hear, “A black, unarmed teen was shot and killed by a white officer today...” Instinctively the mind races to formulate a picture as to what happened. Before all the details have the opportunity to emerge, and without knowing all of the facts to make an informed judgment, key spoken words have already created a picture, not just in your mind, but in the minds of everyone else who has tuned in. As a result strong emotions are likely to be generated and stirred from within the emotional body. The play on key words used by the broadcaster generated thoughts in the hearer, and the thoughts of the hearer, have stirred the pot of emotions.

Though we do have the ability to move on, we can’t remove the stains of actions that have taken place in the past. So for many individuals, words subconsciously kindle deep seated emotions. Let’s take a look at the following words and some of the thoughts that may accompany them. See for yourself what thoughts, or emotions may be stirred up within you.

BLACK - racism, unjust treatment, and inequality

TEEN: A child has just been shot!

WHITE OFFICER - Once again, the mind may be led to racism and oppression, fire hosing and lynching.

Again, without knowing all the facts, one may think to themselves, “A young helpless African American child was killed by a white cop.” For the individual who is not well guarded mentally, emotions such as anger and rage may easily become ignited by these thoughts. Justice is desired. Many, emotionally charged, may even act on the anger by joining an angry riotous mob escalating the social unrest. Please don’t think for one moment that those who are skilled in dark sentences are not fully aware of how their audience will react to the news report, and therefore systematically feed these key words to the population in order to herd them. A spell has been cast and is already doing its work. An incantation has been released and sent forth to do its bidding. The result: racial tension which feeds social unrest.

Contemplate this visualization as well. You have booked a flight to visit family. As you are getting ready to board the plane you see a man in the same line as you. He has sun kissed brown skin, a turban is wrapped tightly around his head, his face dons a beard whose hairs are quite thick, and his body is covered in free flowing, cream colored robes. Intellectually, you know that not everyone who dresses like this as a part of their cultural practice is of the Muslim religion. You also know that those who are truly of the Muslim faith are not involved in radicalisms and are not extremists. In fact, only a small portion of the majority who profess Islam have this mindset. While you know these things, your heart rate may start to quicken. Thoughts may start racing through your mind that have you questioning the thoughts and intentions of this man. “Is he hiding something under that turban that could bring the plane down?” “What if he is a suicide bomber and I never get to my destination?” “I may never see my family again; or my favorite television program for that matter.”   While these thoughts are being generated and clamoring through your mind, in his mind, he knows that he’s on his way home from a long business trip, and he’s excited to see his wife and children again. In fact, when he gets home he’s going to treat them to some Chelow Kabob Deegi to show his love and appreciation for them. Why are thoughts like these presenting themselves to you? Because, once again, through the use of media, key words, and photos, mental images have been generated depicting terrorism and hate from a certain group of people. San Bernardino, 9/11, the bombings in France and in Brussels, as well as others, are still fresh enough in our minds. A spell has been cast, people are now plagued with distrust, fear, nervousness, and trepidation. What is the result? Religious tension that feeds further social unrest. An incantation has been released and sent forth to do its bidding.

Now humor us once more and let’s pretend your favorite musical artist, Sneezy Weezy, has come on the radio. Not only is he your favorite artist, but this is your favorite song called Party till the Afterlife. Oh goody, good, good! What luck! The bass is oh so good and that beat is a doozy. It’ll keep you dancing for forever because if you had the CD, you’d have it on replay for forever. But in this song you pick out lines such as, “I went and shot me a hater.”, “Snatchin all them girls, I’ll have to hang witcha later…” and “Smokin’ on this couch of mine, I found cloud nine…” When we listen to music that glorifies partying all night, promiscuity, drugs, and violence, we open ourselves up to the forces that rule the outcome of this type of lifestyle. As we sing along to these songs we suggest these things to ourselves over, and over again. As it sinks into our subconscious, we may find ourselves slowly making excuses for why this kind of behavior isn’t so bad. “Who needs haters? If he’s a hater no wonder he got shot. He’s just snatching the girls. He didn’t say they were doing anything else.” A double whammy has been done with this type of incantation because not only does the artist put it out there, knowing or, not knowing, the subtle forces they are stirring up, but then fans strengthen the spell because they repeat it to themselves and others over and over again. Not knowing that they’re beckoning these energies to themselves.

The use of incantations, whether intentional or not, is not reserved for the rulers of this world only. In the same way that those who rule this lower realm have the power to manipulate the human person using their thoughts, words, pictures, and actions, so have we. Just as there are many radio stations out there for anyone to tune into, regardless of who they may be, so also are there forces, energies, and spirits around and about us every day broadcasting to us through the air waves. These forces, energies, and spirits can attach to key words, and can move on the vibratory wave of music, which opens emotional portals for easy access. When one key word, or a set of key words, has been unleashed, powers associated with those words have been summoned. You can give someone a word of encouragement and stir up a spirit of confidence and empowerment in their Heavenly Father. Conversely, you can belittle that same person weighing them down with spirits of contempt and resentment. When music and rhymes are added it can literally become spell binding for the unsuspecting. The key words we speak can be constructive or destructive, which spell do you choose to cast? An incantation has been released and sent forth to do its bidding.

That being said: let us be weary to not entertain the notion that, “Because I have knowledge of this new found power, I can use it however I want”. “I can take over the world!” That’s what the dark rulers of this world say to themselves. However, they seem to be forgetting one thing. An incantation put forth does not go unanswered, whether we see the ramifications of it immediately, later on, or not at all, the spirits will come when called. If we read Daniel chapter 10 we see that Daniel had seen a vision that disturbed him greatly. Gabriel, who was a malak (an angel or heavenly being originating from another world) was sent to him and said: “Do not be afraid Daniel. Since the first day you set your mind to gain understanding and to humble yourself before Yahweh your WORDS were HEARD, and I have come in RESPONSE to them. But the Prince of the Persian kingdom resisted me twenty-one days. Then Michael, (another heavenly being of great rank from another world) one of the chief princes, came to help me.” This shows us that we may not see the results right away, however, the words have gone forth, an entity has heard, and they will come.

In Proverbs 18:21 it says “Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruits.” A fruit is something that has been produced. A tree brings forth fruit. It produces it. When we eat that fruit, we receive its essence unto ourselves. We open our physical bodies to what that fruit has to offer, whether positive or negative. We can bite into a poisonous fruit, and bring forth injury, or even death. On the other hand, we can bite into a fruit that is healthy for the body and bring forth abundant vitality. The same concept applies to the words that we speak. Not all spirits that are attracted bring a favorable outcome to those who call upon them. In Daniel’s case he uttered words that attracted a life giving force and it went well with him. He was offered help and comfort. On the flip side of things, let’s look at Haman. You know, the brother who tried to commit genocide on the Jews? Right… him. He also used the power of utterance, however his words, and the intent he affixed to them brought forth death to himself. Let’s look at the words he used in Esther 3:8-9, and notice the play on them here as well. His words were: “There are a certain people dispersed among the peoples in all the provinces of your kingdom who keep themselves SEPARATE (Do they think they’re better than everybody else?). Their customs are DIFFERENT from those of all other people, (they are not like everybody else) and they DO NOT OBEY the king’s laws (disobedient and disrespectful). If it pleases the king, let a decree be issued to DESTROY them… (You get the point).” Haman used an incantation to conjure a spirit of arrogance within the king’s mental and emotional bodies. Now the king thinks to himself. “Who do these people think they are? I’ve laid down laws and they DARE to defy me? Destroy them! Now!” Spirits of death and destruction have been summoned. Unfortunately for Haman, those spirits couldn’t rest upon Queen Esther and her people because of energies that protected them. Having nowhere to rest they returned to the one who conjured them, and sent them in the first place, causing his ultimate demise.

If we are living consciously, it is prudent for us to ask ourselves, “What spirits am I attracting to myself?” “What spirits do I want to attract to myself?” “What kinds of spirits am I bestowing upon those around me?” “What do the prophets of my Father in Heaven say my speech should be like?” If we are spouting obscenities, gossiping, complaining, backbiting, and such, we are opening ourselves up to those negative spirits that are ever present in the ether. They feed on negative emotions and therefore must use their host to spawn negative emotions, such as: fear, anger, pride, and selfishness to become filled with their food. Captivated, we act as a lighthouse for the wandering seafarer and those who are around us are exposed to those very same energies. Colossians 3:8 says: “But now you must put them all away: anger, wrath, malice, slander, and obscene talk from your mouth.” Ephesians 4:29 says: “Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up the body, as it fits the occasion, that it may give (by attracting) blessings to those who hear.”  YHWH gives us these instructions for a reason. He knows that to the one who is faithful, he, or she, attracts those spirits which govern the very same circumstances. To the one who is pure, they attract those spirits who have control over these sets of conditions, unto themselves as well. Likewise, for the one who is devious minded, they attract that same kind of energy around and about them. In Proverbs 12:18 it says: “There is one whose rash words are like sword thrusts, but the tongue of the wise brings healing.” What is it that a sword thrust brings? It brings pain, death, destruction. This scripture tells us that our very words wield this power. One of the things that make a wise person wise is that, that person not only knows the weight their words can carry, but uses their words to activate the power of love. Knowing the secret isn’t enough, nor is it what makes an individual wise. Choosing to use words to create and attract life is a mark of true wisdom. A simple incantation has the ability to attract blessings or curses to one who hears and believes it. We are beings who possess the power of life and death.

Remember what Genesis 1:3 teaches. The light entered into existence in this realm through words – key words. The sky and the land, along with all that inhabits it, were created through words. The heavens and the earth, all of it, were called into being through words. All these were done through spirits, energies, incantations. It would also serve us well to remember that our only duty on earth is to do the Creator’s will. To do His will is to allow ourselves to be used by Him. He uses His servants to assist Him in what He has created and is creating. Therefore, we are not only part of the creation, but, co-creators with the Creator. Our original charge was to restore the balance that was upset in the earth. Return the earth to its former glory. We got sidetracked, but we have been inoculated with the potential, the power, and the opportunity, to fulfill our original mission with the words that we speak which are congruent to our Father’s words. In Deuteronomy 30:11-15 it says: “Now what I am commanding you today is not too difficult for you or beyond your reach. It is not up in heaven so that you have to ask, ‘Who will ascend into heaven to get it and proclaim it to us so we may obey it’...No the WORD (that which has the power of life) is in YOU. We possess the power. In verse 19 of the same chapter it says “…. I have set before you, life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose LIFE so that you and your children may LIVE…” The question being posed to us at this time is this: what do we choose to do with this power which has been entrusted to us? Will we create healing? Will we attract life and light and share it with humanity that they may be restored? There is another choice. Will we turn our backs on the Most High, join those destructive forces ruling the world at this time, and bring to ruin, not only those around us, but also ourselves. The choice is ours. Choose wisely. Choose life. An incantation has been released and sent forth to do its bidding. Receive it!
